Our Branch will be closed on Saturday, January 30, 2021, and Sunday, January 31, 2021.

Our Member Service Center will be available by phone on Saturday, January 30, 2021, during our normal hours from 8:00 AM - 1:00 PM. They will be able to answer questions regarding your account history and current balances, but not perform any transactions.

Online Banking and Mobile App will be unavailable from 3:00 pm on Friday, January 29, 2021, until Monday, February 1, 2021.

Your Debit, ATM, and Direct Visa Card will continue to work for purchases and cash withdrawals. You will not be able to make deposits at ATMs. Debit Cards will have a temporary $1,000 daily limit and ATM Cards will have a temporary $500 daily withdrawal limit.


Any internal transfers scheduled in Online Banking for Saturday, January 16, 2021 - Sunday, January 31, 2021, will need to be set up before 3:00 PM on Friday, January 15, 2021. You will be able to continue to make one-time, instant internal transfers between your accounts during this time. Internal transfers scheduled for January 30, 2021, or January 31, 2021 will post on January 29, 2021.


Any Bill Payments scheduled in Online Banking for Saturday, January 16, 2021 - Sunday, January 31, 2021, will need to be set up or changed before 3:00 PM on Friday, January 15, 2021. You will not have access to Bill Pay for these two weeks. Bill Pay transactions scheduled for January 30, 2021, or January 31, 2021, will post on Monday, February 1, 2021.


Direct Federal Loan Payments being paid from an external Financial Institution through Direct Federal's Online Banking platform January 16, 2021 - January 31, 2021 need to be set up before 3:00 pm on January 15, 2021.

  • Final day to add or make any changes to your internal transfers and Bill Pay transactions scheduled in Online Banking for Saturday, January 16, 2021 - Sunday, January 31, 2021. You will not be able to create or modify a scheduled transfer or Bill Pay transaction after Friday, January 15, 2021. Please note that you will be able to make instant, internal transfers during this time, but will have no access to Bill Pay.

Friday, January 29, 2021

  • Online Banking and our Mobile App will be unavailable from 3:00 pm on Friday, January 29, 2021 until Monday, February 1, 2021, when our new Online Banking Platform and Mobile App goes live. You will not be able to log in over the weekend to access information or perform any transactions.
  • Mobile Check Deposits made through our Mobile App by 3:00 pm will post same day and follow Direct's standard check clearing policy.
  • Any scheduled, one-time, or recurring transfers between Direct Federal accounts for January 30, 2021 or January 31, 2021 will be processed and posted early on January 29, 2021.
  • Your monthly dividends will post on Friday, January 29, 2021 with an effective date of January 31, 2021.

  • Our branch will be closed.

  • Direct Federal Loan Payments being paid from an internal Direct Federal account and scheduled for these two days will post on Friday, January 29, 2021. Loan payments being paid from an external account will post on Monday, February 1, 2021.

Why are you upgrading your core system?

We’re upgrading our technologies to enhance your overall banking experience, and to give ourselves the flexibility to partner with other technology companies to continually enhance our services and product offerings.

What changes should I expect?

While many of the changes will take place behind the scenes, all members can expect a new, easy-to-use Online Banking Platform and Mobile App, a variety of product and service enhancements, and new-look on our statements once our Technology Upgrade Weekend is over.

Why are you upgrading Online and Mobile Banking?

We want to make your banking experience as simple, flexible, and convenient as possible, and our new Online Banking Platform and Mobile App offer an easy-to-use design to help you access and manage your accounts anywhere, anytime.

What will your new Online and Mobile Banking look like?

Both platforms will have a new, intuitive design that will help you access information and perform transactions more quickly and easily. See below for example screenshots.

Are there any new features to Online and Mobile Banking?

Yes. In addition to a new design, you will have access to some new and enhanced features, including an intuitive Bill Pay system, easier transfers, and mobile check deposit. In addition, you will now be able to see every account at Direct Federal that you're associated with, all under one login, on one screen. This includes any account you're a Joint owner on, your Children's accounts, Trust accounts, and more. In addition, Joint account owners now have the option of creating their own online banking account to view their account. We've partnered with Zelle to provide you with a fast, safe, and easy way to send money to friends, family, and others you trust. 

Why can I not log in to my account January 29, 2021 - February 1, 2021?

Between 3:00 PM on Friday, January 29, 2021, and Monday, February 1, 2021, we’ll be having our Technology Upgrade Weekend. During this time, accounts will be inaccessible to all Members as we switch over to our new systems.

How can I access my money January 29, 2021 - February 1, 2021?

Debit, ATM, and Direct Credit Cards, as well as personal, business, and Home Equity checks, will all work during the Technology Upgrade Weekend.

Will I get a new Member Number or different Account Suffixes?

No, all Member Numbers and Account Suffixes will remain the same going forward. No action is required on your part.

Do I need to do anything?

For the most part, no. However, given that there will be certain unavoidable service interruptions over the Technology Upgrade Weekend, please be sure to check our SERVICE AVAILABILITY GUIDE.


Why did you get rid of Telephone Banking?

We decided to disconnect and discontinue Call24 Telephone Banking because we believe our new Online and Mobile technologies can provide the same fast, free, easy access to your accounts, all with even more flexibility and functionality.

Are your products changing?

No. Our product and service offerings—including all your current accounts—will remain the same after the Technology Upgrade Weekend. Down the road, we hope to expand and enhance our offering by leveraging the flexibility of our new systems.

Will my loan payments go through over the Technology Upgrade Weekend?

Direct Federal Loan Payments being paid from an internal Direct Federal account will post on Friday, January 29, 2021. Loan payments being paid from an external account will post on Monday, February 1, 2021.

What if I need to talk to you during the Technology Upgrade Weekend?

Our Member Service Team will be available by phone on Saturday, January 30, during our normal hours from 8:00 am -1:00 pm.

Will I need to re-register for Online Banking?

No. Your Online Banking information will all transfer over, and your Username and Password will remain the same. Please note, however, that when you log in for the first time after the Technology Upgrade Weekend,

you will be prompted to verify your identity and then change your Password. Please follow the directions on the screen.
